We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our established Mechanical Engineering team at our Northern Hub in Preston.
What will you focus on?
The UU Mechanical Engineering team provides Mechanical Engineering Design support, Operational Engineering support & Technical Specialist support to UU throughout the whole asset lifecycle.
As Senior Mechanical Engineer you will report to a Principal Mechanical Engineer on engineering, technical and professional matters and to Area/Project Engineering Managers on project specific matters. The role will include working closely and developing strong relationships with all internal clients and may involve leading a team.
The successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer of The Institute of Mechanical Engineers or equivalent status with several years post graduate experience.
The role requires a strong technical competence and leadership skills, coupled with high levels of emotional intelligence.
Experience is desirable in delivering capital and strategic projects and providing operational support in the water industry or other sectors for optimum TOTEX.
The post holder will be required to work both on their own and as a member of a team.
The ability to write clear, concise, accurate reports & specifications with measurable outputs is important as well as the ability to promote these “best of breed” standards and designs to others.
A full UK driving Licence is required.

Chartered Engineers will also have the opportunity to assist in mentoring developing Graduate Engineers on an IMechE accredited MPDS training programme.
The UU North Hub is located in Preston PR25PE, however this role may involve working on projects & sites from Warrington to Carlisle, so applicants from within the UU geographic area would be considered.
