Overall Job Purpose:
To carry out inspection and function testing of raw materials, and of both bulk and
Finished goods for release to the supply chain and to the Customer.
To support the QC function with investigations, following a material or product
failure or Customer Complaints.
Key Role Responsibilities;
Carry out the function testing of raw materials, bulk product and finished goods
against agreed specifications and test methods, to ensure the items pass the
To record the results of that testing appropriately, on the relevant function test results sheet, and to input and record that information on to the quality databases. In addition, to file the signed records in readiness for inspections and audits.
To communicate to other Teams the outcome of the results and provide accurate feedback of any issue that is seen during the inspections, maintaining the integrity of any samples that display the issue, for use for feedback to Medtrade and to the relevant Supplier.
Support QC activities during a quality issue or following a complaint. Attend / hold MRBs for quality issues that have been identified, either from testing or from customer complaints, and then raise VCA’s if necessary. Complete and maintain if applicable, the MRB and VCAs documentation and logs.
Follow up on VCAs, for a timely completion and resolution, and to ensure that the content is reviewed and accepted by Quality. But also, to ensure verification of the actions has been completed and is successful.
If discrepancies are found in a specification, then to liaise with QA the need for changes or updates.
To support the introduction of new products or processes with testing of samples, and of both bulk and packed product, to enable a successful launch.
To maintain and keep a tidy well-organized work area.
The role will be predominately based in the office, but there may be a requirement to be flexible, to support the business and visit suppliers as necessary, in order to complete some of the above tasks from time to time.
And to carry out any other reasonable requests to support the Quality Control and Quality Assurance functions.
QC background with an emphasis on Inspection
Medical background with an understanding of medical devices
An understanding of Lean Improvement, including Project Experience
An understanding of Specifications and Dimensional Drawings
Must be a strong team player and have good interpersonal skills with all people across the business and suppliers.
Good communication skills; both written and oral,
Strong organizational skills.
Must have good attention to detail, with the ability to compose accurate reports, and complete documents & records.
Must be able to plan efficiently and allow for flexibility.
Must be able to prioritise workloads logically.
